All For The Dogs

At Rockin' B Ranch, we are all about the dogs in our life.
Some would say they are spoiled.

There is Princess Sheba.
She is the lap dog.

There is Pete.
He is the odd ball of the group.

There is Karma.
The newest member of the pack.

Then there is the Dutch and Dutches of the Ranch.

Ailey Mae

Did you know the origin of Dutch and Dutches is German?
I didn't!

Wherever we go you will most likely find one or more of the dogs with us.
Sheba is always in the feed truck. She loves her visits to the feed store!
Pete is normally always with Drewman.  He enjoys trips to town.
Karma never leaves Okiegirl.  She spends time in the office and in the field each day.
Onyx, on occasion, gets to go feed cattle.  His job is to protect the ranch base.
Ailey Mae is by my side wherever I go.  She has to be told to stay when I leave.  She knows her job is to protect me.  That is when she isn't raising her babies.

We love our time with each one of the dogs.
We do our best to provide them quality care and the most love they could ever receive.
We even make them homemade treats.

Okiegirl got in on the last batch of treat making.
Silly kids!
We made two types of treats.
Chewy type treats and Peanut Butter Banana Treats.

Chew Dog Treats Ingredients:
1/2 - 3/4 cups oatmeal (depending on how dense you want the treats)
1/4 cup powdered milk
2 small jars baby food (we used one turkey and one pumpkin)
1 tablespoon peanut butter (either crunchy or smooth works great)
Karma likes peanut butter!
1) Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
2) Combine all ingredients in a medium sized bowl.
3) Scoop treats on greased cookie sheet.
4) Cook for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.
5) Cool.  Store treats in your refrigerator for up to one week (or until your furry kid learns how to open the fridge!)

Peanut Butter Banana Dog Treats Ingredients:
1 cup whole wheat flour (can be substituted with rice or coconut flour for a grain free option)
1/2 banana, mashed
1/3 cup peanut butter
2 Tbsp ground flax seed
1/4 cup almond milk (unsweetened)

1) Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
2) Combine all ingredients in a medium mixing bowl.
3) Mix ingredients together thoroughly using a spatula until well combined.
4) Roll out mixture on a floured surface to approximately 1/4".
5) Cut into desired shapes.
6) Repeat with remaining dough.

7) Place on a nonstick baking sheet and bake for 20 minutes.

When cool they are crisp little snack wafers.

These are Ailey Mae's favorite!
Can't you tell?!?!

After we cut these out, we remembered we have a doggie treat cookie cutters we failed to get out and use.
We also have a doggie bone maker that would work perfect with these treat recipes.
As for spoiled dogs...
We prefer to say they are well taken care of.

The Backside of A Bovine Photo Shoot

Last week, we were contacted by a gentleman inquiring about a bovine photo shoot.
He is working on a project and thought the Rockin' B Bovine might be able to help.

Kirk is a very talented photographer and horseman, as well as an amazing family man and daddy.
We were introduced to Kirk when The Twisted Pro came aboard the Rockin' B team.
It turns out, Kirk knows many of the same folks we know.
It is a small world!

When I asked The Twisted Pro to give me some descriptive words about Kirk, her response was
"He is one of a kind, selfless and humble.  He has a heart as big as Texas and would do anything for ya at the drop of a hat. He is talented beyond words behind a camera and on a horse... but he would never tell you that.  He is hilarious and as loving as they come."

Saturday morning, Kirk and his son Aub arrived at the ranch with The Twisted Pro and her hubby.
We all loaded up in the feed truck and headed to the cattle.

Flower Boy, Kirk and Aub get out of the truck, as the cattle gather around, and the shoot begins.

Here are the photos of what The Twisted Pro, her hubby and myself saw from the truck.
Photo credits go to The Twisted Pro.

We can't wait to see the shots Kirk got!
