A Building We Shall Go! On Social Media! WOW!

WOW!!!!

I can't tell you the amount of requests we have gotten asking us to be on social media.

Not long ago, I set up a twitter account, instagram, and ranch facebook page, as well as revamped my personal pinterest page.

We have had several followers on all the accounts.

Not just friends.

EXCITING!

Flower Boy keeps up with the twitter account, more so than I do.

I'm not the best at posting to instagram, yet.

I do know the in's and out's of facebook and pinterest.

I use to be a facebook and pinterest junkie!

"Hello, my name is Rancher Girl.  I am a facebook and pinterest aholic."

A Building We Shall Go!, Rockin' B Ranch, Drew's EGGcelent EGGs and Drewman's senior year have changed all that.

I'm not upset.

I like the change.

Anyway...

Wordless Wednesday - All A Flutter

Texture Tuesday - Earth Day

Today, because it is Earth Day....

We thought we would show off our part of saving the planet.

This sweet little garden hose basket.

 I have more hoses to make more baskets.
I just need more time!

OUR FLOORS!
The reclaimed paver brick.

The paper bag floor.

The penny shower floor.

Let's not forget the famous pallet wood floor that made this little blog go global and viral!

 It's been a year and we still love everything about these floors!

We try to be conscious of recycling.
Drew's EGGcelent EGGs recycles egg cartons for home deliveries and pickup.
New cartons must be used for in store sales and farmers markets.

While Flower Boy and I do our part to reuse tee posts and fencing materials, around the ranch.

 Be good to the Earth!

Art Show - Tomorrow!!!

Tomorrow there will be an Art Show!

Drewman will have artwork on display!

It is something he has been working on for some time.

He has taken great pride in his work.

Here is a sneak peek...

This is not the completed product, but I LOVE IT!

We are so excited to have Drewman be selected to participate.

Although there are others who will be selling their art,
Drewman's will not be sold.

Why?

I would like to think it is because, due to the house fire, I have none of his artwork from when he was a young child.

Honestly, only Drewman can answer that question.

I am just happy he has chosen not to sell it.

Drewman has always been an industrial artsy person.

He gets that from his PaPa.

If you are in our hometown tomorrow,

Stop by 611 Bakehouse between 10am and 2pm.

611 Bakehouse is located at 611 Delaware on the North side of the town square.

There will be lots of local art on display.

Art from students and local artists.

I can't wait to check it out!

Texture Tuesday - April 15, 2014

Although I haven't had much time to crochet, I made my first yarn ball.
Grandma B and Uncle Jack would be proud!

These next three photos are favorites of mine.
They were taken during A Date With My Daddy.

These boulders lie along side the hill, as you enter the drive to the ranch.

 I enjoy watching the texture of these beauties change with the time of day and year.

This next group of photos were taken on my grandparent's home place.
It is the original homestead of Rockin' B Ranch.
This clump of trees are just off the county road.
I can't take my eyes off this spot as we drive by to do chores.

 Breathtaking!

Captivating!

This little jewel sets in one of our lease pastures.

 I would like to hear his story!

Crazy Things Happening

There have been some crazy things happening around the ranch!

 

Last Thursday night, there was a loud boom and our entire house shook.

 Soon after, Flower Boy and I received a text from a neighbor asking,

"What the heck are y'all doing to have the epicenter just west of you?"

 

Yes, you read right!

EPICENTER!

The blue dot is our NEW HOUSE!

Just across the road, less than 500 feet away, was a 2.8 EARTHQUAKE!

There is no damage to our house.

We are thankful for our post tension slab!

 

Earthquakes are not uncommon in Oklahoma.

Many people have many opinions for the reason behind the quakes.

 

Living along the I35 corridor, we not only live in Tornado Alley, there is a fault line that runs along the corridor too.

Speaking of Tornado Alley...

Sunday afternoon we were blessed with rain!

AND

Hail!

This is very typical of an Oklahoma Spring.



 

What isn't typical of an Oklahoma Spring is SNOW!

This morning, I no more got into work and Flower Boy sends a message,

"It's snowing!!!!!!!"

There wasn't any accumulation but the temperature dropped enough to cause fear.

With a freeze this late into the spring, all sorts of things can be destroyed.
Flower Boy had conversations with his family about a freeze killing wheat, canola and grass.
To farming and ranching families this could be a huge set back.

There is also the consideration of what a freeze could do to the fruit trees.
NO JELLY!

In all seriousness, we are concerned.
The weather reports are calling for temperatures dropping into the 20's tonight.

My Grand Daddy B would always say,
"Winter is never over until the oak leaves are as big as squirrel's ears."
I asked last week, on social media, if anyone knew the size of a squirrel's ear.

This evening, I spent some time with one of my Sister's In Christ.
Her momma has left this earth for the wonderful life in Heaven.
As I was driving home, I called her.
"I want you to go outside.  Look to the west.  The sun is setting! Look to the east. The moon is rising! This is your gift!"

I then called Drewman and he captured these photos for me.

With this gift, I can hardly believe there will be a freeze.

I am praying so.
